According to a summary of the results announced by the State Election Commission at around noon, the AIADMK has won in 1,433 seats, of which 1,199 are town panchayat ward members; 167 – municipalities’ councillors; 45 – town panchayat chairpersons and two municipalities’ chairpersons.
Independents have secured 874 seats including 788 town panchayat ward members. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has won 829 seats, of which 723 are town panchayat ward members; 80 municipalities’ councillors; 19 town panchayat chairpersons and seven councillors of municipal corporations. The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, led by Vijayakant, has won 165 seats; Indian National Congress -127 seats; Pattali Makkal Katchi – 60 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party – 42 seats .
