Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Mini 2 coming to Three

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Mini 2 coming to Three

Samsung has announced two new handsets that will be the new
members of its Android smartphone family. The new devices -
Ace 2 and mini 2 are both seemingly promising handsets and
will be rolled out by network operator Three soon.

The devices will be added to the carrier’s lineup as the
successors of the popular Samsung Galaxy Ace and mini
devices.

However, when compared to the predecessors, the new devices have a lot to
offer in terms of performance, the carrier notes. Both of them run under
Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The Galaxy Ace 2 sports a 3.8-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera and 4GB of
memory. Sadly, neither phone offers Ice Cream Sandwich -- the latest version
of Android -- but the Ace 2 is a dual-core phone, so has plenty of power.

Three has yet to reveal prices or release dates for the Ace 2 and Mini 2,
although it's been around a year since the original Ace and Mini arrived,
so you shouldn't have long to wait.

The 3.8-inch Galaxy Ace 2 offers a little more horsepower, with a dual-core
800MHz chip, 768MB of RAM, a WVGA screen and 5MP camera. Like the Mini 2, the
Ace 2 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, backed up by TouchWiz 4.0.

We'll be watching with interest to see where both devices land in terms of
pricing, as both could be tempting for first-time smartphone buyers if priced
competitively.
