MP celebrates Vajpayee’s 88th birthday

Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a Indian politician who ruled as the 10th Prime Minister of India. He was
born on born 25 December 1924. He served as PM of India for first term 13 days in 1996, second term
from 1998 to 2004.  He has been member of parliament for four decades. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was
elected to the Lok Sabha a record nine times. He was also elected in the Rajya Sabha twice.

The UAD Minister further said that we should take inspirations from the ideals of the senior leader
for the comprehensive development of the society to make the country prosperous. BJP State vice-
president Dhruv Narayan Singh, Usha Chaturvedi, State secretary Rameshwar Sharma, spokesman Vishwas
Sarang, Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Development Authority Chairman Surendranath Singh, Ramesh
Sharma and hundreds of other party workers were present on the occasion.

Vajpayee is one of the founder leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the BJP\'s predecessor; Vajpayee
was India\'s foreign minister when the Janata Party took power in 1977. After that in year 1996 he was
become prime minister for 13 days, than for 13 months from March 1998 onwards and presided over the
country for a third time from October 1999 to May 2004, when the Congress ousted the BJP.

"We have decided to celebrate Atalji birthday as good governance day because the entire nation still
remembers his governance policies when he was the prime minister during NDA's (National Democratic
Alliance) regime. I will pray to god to bless him with a long life," he said.

In 1942, Atal came into the political limelight, when he was detained during the Quit India civil
disobedience movement. After this incident he became very close to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, leader
of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Vajpayee also supported Mukherjee in his protest against perceived inferior
treatment of non-kashmiri Indian visitors in Kashmir.

Bhartiya Janta Party is also celebrated Vajpayee’s Birthday as Good Governance Day. Besides this,
BJP led states also celebrates Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday as Good Governance day.
