Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s largest utility car manufacturer announced earlier today that they have named their World SUV W201 as XUV500 and it will be launched in Indian auto industry later this year. Mahindra will also be launching XUV500 in South Africa this year itself.

Powered by a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine, Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 14-17 lakhs. Once launched in the Indian auto industry, XUV500 will compete head on with Tata Aria in the segment.
Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled the name of its all new SUV which was code named W201. The new SUV will be called XUV 500 and will be priced between Rs. 12 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs, Pawan Goenka, President – Automotive Division said. The company has not gone the traditional way of naming the car ending with “O”. Mahindra XUV500 will also feature Cruise control, ABS, ESP, Traction control, Airbags and LED daytime running lights.  Mahindra XUV500 will competed directly with Tata Aria, Chevrolet Captiva, Honda CR-V. Mahindra XUV500 SUV is expected to be launched in India by end of 2011.
