I Am Singh: Movie Review

is an honest attempt to highlight the plight of Muslims and Sikhs in America post 9/11. But honestly, this
topic is now done to death and unless there is something different or if it is dished out differently, it
will be one more of those films that try too hard.

First let’s try and see what the director (Puneet Issar) wanted to convey through this film; plight of the
Sikhs post 9/11, principles of justice, liberty and peace, a united worldview, freedom of religion and pride
in one’s own culture.

Ranveer then immediately leaves for US and tried to find out what exactly had happened. Despite repeated
attempts, he does not come to know what has exactly happened. This is when he decides that somehow he has
to break the suspense and find out what had happened to his family. Meanwhile, Ranveer makes new relations
with the people who help him in his battle.

The less said about the performances the better. Every actor in the cast is absolutely immature and wooden.
They deliver dialogues as if reading lines from a prewritten speech. Gulzar Chahal as the male lead acts as
if he were a traffic constable with his spread-out hands and pointing fingers gesture. Puneet Issar fails to
impress as an actor and a director. Others lack screen presence and don't even deserve a mention.

I Am Singh is a course in garish filmmaking. Avoid under all circumstances!
