Bajaj unveils small car RE60; may price it at Rs 125,000!

The company Bajaj , which had in 2008 showcased a concept small car but decided not to go ahead
with the project, will launch the new product named RE60 later this year. Bajaj Auto on Tuesday
unveiled a mini four wheeler for intra-city urban transportation targetting three wheeler customers.

Speaking at the launch, Bajaj Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told reporters that that the two
companies are yet to see the final product and will decide on co-operation on the RE60 in the
next few days.

"We make about 5,20,000 three-wheelers a year of which only 2,00,000 are sold in India and rest
exported. So we see markets like Sri Lanka, which could be the first export market has huge
potential for RE60," he said.

In 2008, Bajaj had showcased a small concept car, but had later decided not to go ahead with it.

The company claims a real world fuel mileage of 35 kpl, with a carbon emission of 60 grams per
kilometre, which also reflects in the name RE’60'. The body weighs 400 kg and the car is powered
by a 4-stroke engine. There is also a fuel injected CNG variant available.The group gave no price
for the low-emission vehicle which will have a top speed of 70 kilometres an hour
