Vettai: Moview Review

Thirumurthy (Madhavan), who is scared of any sort of violence, is tricked by younger brother
Gurumurthy (Arya) into taking up the job of a sub-inspector after their father dies in harness.

After Thiru is unwittingly put in the line of fire at his first posting in Thoothukudi, Guru
arrives to help him handle the various goons that inhabit the port city and run various illegal
operations. Thiru becomes the cynosure of all eyes and rises in stature after Guru does all the
grunt work for him, but it is only a matter of time before Annachi (Ashutosh Rana) finds out the
truth about the brothers and unleashes all his henchmen at them.

The film was released in over 550 screens across the globe and stands out to be one of the
biggest releases. USA, Canada, Australia, Germany and Holland are some of the countries that
screened the film. The film hit as many as 300 screens in Tamil Nadu alone.

Speaking with a leading daily, Aarya has opened up on the the much-talked kissing scenes in
Vettai. The actor says that it was hard from his part to do the kissing scenes in front of the
film unit. Adding to that he says the close shots gave an embarrassing time. However, it was
shot in a natural way and the audience have liked it.

Gurumoorthy comes into the unknown picture of knocking down the baddies, completing the
mission that was assigned to Thiru and he earns praise and respect in department. But when
the roughnecks at poles apart find out that Thiru isn’t what he seems to be, they smash him
black and blue almost killing him.

My favorite part was a song, sung by the sisters among green fields dotted with palm trees.
The theme: the kind of man they would like to marry. The gist: He shouldn’t be pencil thin
or stare too hard at shopping bills or be preoccupied with work. Instead: “I need a man who
will care for me like a mother.”
