Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya: Movie Review

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya hits the screens today. The film was much in talks
due to the vivid fact of the grand marriage of Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia
D’ Souza that took place earlier this month. The viewers were eager to
watch the real life couple romancing on screen. An entertainer, Tere Naal
Love Ho Gaya is a love saga of a couple. A Tips production, the film is
directed by Mandeep Kumar. People often get anxious to watch the real life
couples on screen and the same happened with this product, which dragged
the people to the theaters just because of the fact of the leading couple’s
marriage. Well, the makers got advantage of Ritiesh and Genelia’s marriage.

Bhatti [Tinnu Anand] is keen to get his daughter Mini [Genelia Deshmukh]
married. He even chooses a guy who, he thinks, will keep his daughter happy
thanks to his riches. In the meantime, Viren [Riteish Deshmukh] feels Bhatti
has swindled him of his hard-earned money and confronts Bhatti in an
intoxicated state. Seizing the opportunity of escaping from the situation
[of marrying a guy she barely knows], Mini flees with Viren, making the
episode look as if Viren has kidnapped Mini. Gradually, a romance develops
between the unlikely couple.

The film is predictable so far. And by the intermission you realise that
the plot is over. Boy kidnapped girl, girl is in love with boy, boy is in
love with girl, both can't tell each other, the ransom is arriving. You
expect the second half to be a sappy journey of expression of love etc.
But the film takes a twist and the duo now land up in Viren's ancestorial
home, under the supervision of his astranged family -- Father (Puri) who
is a professional kidnapping kingpin, mother (jaykar), a sister, a set of
pehelwaans and more.

The film primarily works thanks to the convincing chemistry and performances
by the lead pair. Riteish Deshmukh is resourcefully restrained, perfectly
poised and, needless to say, his comic timing is impeccable. At the same time
he allows Genelia to take lead as the film largely revolves around her
character. And Genelia does complete justice to her meaty role with a
refreshing and dynamic act. Her cute looks and electrifying smile add to her
appeal. From the character cast, Om Puri gets the best lines and induces
frequent laughter. Chitrashi Rawat and Navin Prabhakar are wasted. Veena
Malik's item number was avoidable.
