CNN to buy Mashable ?

According to reports, international news giant CNN, a unit of Time Warner, is in
talks to acquire the social news website Mashable for $200 million. Mashable, an
American news website and news blog founded by Pete Cashmore in 2005, specialises
in technology and social media. However the blog now also covers business and
entertainment. Mashable is said to have over 15 million monthly visitors and 4
million social media followers across Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

The New York Times confirmed on Monday that CNN was in advanced talks to acquire
the website, but reported that network representatives denied a deal would be
announced on Tuesday. The Times also reported that sources familiar with the
situation advised it could fall through.

The Mashable website was founded by Pete Cashmore as a teenager in his bedroom
in Scotland seven years ago. It covers social media, technology, business and
entertainment news.

According to Cashmore's official biography on Mashable.com, he started the site
to focus on "up-to-the-minute news on social networks and digital trends".

The trend began with AOL, when it purchased technology blog TechCrunch in September
